Union campaign saves 50 telecom jobs in Cumbria

A community-based campaign by the Communication Workers Union (CWU) has persuaded British Telecom to keep 50 call centre jobs in Barrow.
The company is transfering fresh work to the site - rather than pushing ahead with planned redundancies.
The campaign was backed by the local Labour MP and the town's development agency.

  1. A bit of good news amongst such darkness, congrats to this inspired community campaign.

Just a little question Miles, where will the tranfering of work come from?

  2. Yes, Telecommunications companies have expanded their operation in the market to a large scale and into the most competitive market today. Hence, it requires tough leadership and fresh young minds to maintain a competitive edge. Graduates in engineering and networking should consider telecommunications jobs if it interests them.
